| Dhwani - The Music Society |
|
Now is a good time to start believing that SSCBS – the undergraduate business school – has a music society. A versatile music society. And a very active music society at that. Like every other college, there are some very distinguishable features of the members of Dhwani. Here’s a guide for identifying them for all those who love music too, and also those who want to keep their distance. Firstly, they’ll know how to pronounce a cappella. They’ll also know what it means. Despite your fervent efforts to divert the topic, they’ll demonstrate an a cappella song for your benefit, instead of just using the words “without instruments”, if you cared to ask. Secondly, no matter where you are – class, corridors, canteen, keventer’s or even the metro – if one person is humming a common song, before you count to 6, it’ll be a full fledged group song, with all the harmonies intact. Don’t believe us? Ask the guys at Dominoes and McDonalds’ (Cross River Mall). Next, they are the ones who rush out between classes to “jam” at the various staircases. No, they don’t bunk classes. It’s just something the guys do every time they go to the washroom. Fourthly, they have the natural tendencies to break into a song with every word you utter. The most common illustration being, “Where is KB Sir?” And a horde of people start yelling, “Where is he? Where is he? Where is he? *Thish thish* Where is he?” Repeat. “Its their a cappella song,” someone explains sympathetically to the novice. And lastly, they will fight over practice schedules, choice of songs, harmonies, hair cuts, lame jokes, work distribution, friends – but they are the only people who will be always ready with a song for every situation to put a smile on your lips, and warm your heart. |
